In Edgerton, the VFW Post 2708 continues to live its mission through service, commitment, and a deep dedication to community impact.
At the center of their work is a belief in service above self. That shows in their long-standing partnership with Edgerton Community Outreach, where for four consecutive years they have helped prepare Thanksgiving meal distributions, including peeling more than a ton of potatoes this year alone to support local families in need.
Their commitment also extends to preserving and improving the community. The VFW has played a key role in the restoration of 210 West Fulton Street alongside Outreach, helping transform it into veteran housing and a shared space that continues to serve the community. They have also worked with Nelson-Young to reclaim and reuse more than 10,000 bricks from the former depot platform, protecting a piece of Edgerton’s history.
The VFW strengthens community connections through tradition and participation, from their annual Veterans Day lunch with the Rotary Club of Edgerton to their float in the Tobacco Heritage Days Parade and their Honor Guard services that ensure veterans are honored with dignity. Their P38 can opener contest has even become a favorite that connects history with fun.
VFW Post 2708 stands for service, respect, and community. Showing up, giving back, and making Edgerton stronger every step of the way
